Hi there,

A lot of folks have asked me which affiliate program they should join as affiliates. It is very normal to feel overwhelmed with all the affiliate programs out there, it may be tricky to find the best program to suit your needs best. Hopefully by the end of this review, you will have a better idea about each program, and be able to decide which program will suit your needs best.

I have to admit I am a member of both programs. For this reason, if you have any questions or concerns about either program, please feel free to leave them in the comments below, and I would be more than happy to connect, and answer any questions you may have.

Product: Amazon Vs ShareASale

Owners: Jeff Bezos (Amazon), Brian Littleton (ShareASale)

Amazon is an affiliate network, which offers a wide range of products, and services for affiliates to promote. So if you are just starting your affiliate marketing journey, whether it be an affiliate or a seller, Amazon is great to check out as a starter. Amazon has almost any product that may come to mind, you wish to want to promote. So whether you are an affiliate or a seller, Amazon is an affiliate network for your to check out.

On the other hand, ShareASale also offers the same type of service for its affiliates and sellers. So really there is no much difference between the two. But for the sake of this review, I will only be comparing both affiliate networks in terms of affiliates, and not sellers. For this reason, I have done a compare and contrast between the two affiliate networks, to show you how they are related, and how they differ from one another.

Amazon Vs ShareASale

Features Amazon ShareASale
Free To Join Yes Yes
Link tracking tools Yes Yes
Support Yes Yes
Useful Tools Yes Yes
Sales Quota requirement Yes No
Affiliate Program No Yes
Need a Website To Join  Yes, and or a mobile app Yes

So as you can see from the table above, both affiliate programs are great for affiliates to participate in. However, there are a couple of differences between the two affiliate networks. For example, with Amazon, you need to get 3 sales in your first 180 days of joining the Amazon Associate Program. So if you do not get 3 sales in the first 180 days of joining Amazon associates program, you account will be deactivated.

And not to mention, the second difference is that Amazon does not have a referral program, where you would get compensated if you were to refer someone to join the Amazon Associates program. So as you can see, there are not a lot of differences between the two.

If you are just starting out with Affiliate marketing, and you Literally know nothing about affiliate marketing, then maybe you are better of with ShareASale, just so you won’t have to stress about the whole idea of having to achieve 3 sales in your first 180 days of joining the program.

Having said that, with ShareASale, if you get affiliates to join the platform , you will be compensated for it, $1 per lead. It may sound little, but the more affiliates you get to join, the more you will make. On the other hand, if you get a merchant to join ShareASale, you will be paid $150 in commission. That may sound easy to get, but it really is not. The reason is, because merchants who wish to join ShareASale, will need to pay a fee of $500 + other fees.

Amazon on the other hand, does not have an affiliate program. They have something similar to it (Amazon Prime). For instance, if you get people to join as prime members (users will need to pay membership fees per month), Amazon will give you $3 in commission. But again, that might not be as easy as it sounds, because people are more likely to join, if it was something offered for free.

Pros and Cons

Further more, when it comes to the commission pay rates, you are better off with ShareASale, compared to Amazon. With ShareASale, each merchant pays a certain percentage of commission to its affiliates, while Amazon has commission pay rates based on categories and products.  For this reason, you are at a higher rate of earning more with ShareASale, than with Amazon.

Not to mention, the affiliate links with Amazon are valid for 24 hours, and if the customer adds an item(s) to their cart , your affiliate link is then valid for only 30 days. However, with ShareASale, there are merchants that have affiliate links which are valid for 100 days and some are more.

That said, you have a better chance of getting a sale with ShareASale than with Amazon Associates Program, especially if you are a beginner in affiliate marketing. But that will really depend on the way you choose to promote affiliate links, and etc.

Amazon VS ShareASale Review

My Recommendation

This will really depend on the individuals preference, because as you can see, Amazon and ShareASale are much alike. They have a few differences, here and there, but they are a lot similar. Personally, I feel if you have a product that you wish to promote, then go ahead and promote it through either one, because really to get the sale, it will all depend on the way you choose to promote your affiliate links.

So if you choose to promote affiliate links through Facebook (sharing on your posts), you will not really get many sales this way. However, if you were to present your affiliate links in blogs, or websites. Then I would say, you have a higher chance of making sales. And that is regardless of which affiliate network you use.

In conclusion, both affiliate networks are great to be part of. I am a member of both networks, and I have not had any issues with either one. If you are new to affiliate marketing, please do not join so many affiliate networks, try to limit your membership with affiliate networks. You do not want to overwhelm your self. Join the affiliate network that has your product, or service that you wish to promote.
