A lot of folks have asked me to review the ShareASale affiliate network program for them. They want to know whether ShareASale is a scam or not?. And hopefully by the end of this post, you will decide whether ShareASale is a scam or not. In this review, I will talk about the pros and cons of ShareASale (as an affiliate), costs associated to join ShareASale, and lastly, my recommendation.

If you have any questions or concerns, please do feel free to leave it in the comment section below, and I would be more than happy to connect.

How Does ShareASale Work?

So if you wish to join ShareASale, first you will need to have a website. Once you have a website all set up , and actually have some content on it, you will then apply to ShareASale affiliate program, and you will need to talk a little bit about your website, and explain what your website is about. The reason you have to do this, because then ShareASale will be able to notify you of preferred merchants, that have products that match your websites content. They just want to make your life a little bit easier.

So once you apply for merchants, you will need to wait until they approve you as an affiliate. This process usually takes 48 hours. But some merchants may take longer to get back to you. But once approved, you will be provided with links, banners, and basically all the tools you need in order to help you succeed as an affiliate.

Having said that, there is a performance dashboard, so if you were to make sales, you will see that when you first log into ShareASale. Also, on the performance dashboard, you will know how many clicks went through on each merchant site.

How Do You Earn Money With ShareASale?

You can earn money when you post affiliate links on Facebook, Pinterest, or any social media account. But again, you need to be wise to not over use your affiliate links. It is very tempting, that’s for sure.

But you need to limit your use of affiliate links, as that might get your account deactivated. Some merchants have a PPS (Pay Per Sale) commission, a PPL (Pay Per Lead) commission or even a PPC (Paid per Click) commission. It depends on the merchant you are promoting the products for. So as you can see, you can make money in several ways.

Pros Of ShareASale

It is 100 percent free to join as an affiliate.
As an affiliate, you have access to training tools, which will help you succeed as an affiliate.
ShareASale recommends merchants for you based on your Niche. It saves you a lot of time.
You can create custom links, which will increase your earning potential.
As an affiliate, there is a blog section, where you are given ideas as to how you can increase your earning potential.
They have an affiliate program, so if you refer someone, you will get a commission. You will get paid a $1 per lead.

Cons Of ShareASale

If you are a merchant, there is a fee which you have to pay in order to join ShareASale. Otherwise, it is free if you are joining as an affiliate.
It is not guaranteed that you will get accepted into a program that you like. For example, some merchants are just hard to convince that you are the right affiliate for their products and services.
If you refer someone to join as an affiliate,  the pay is rather low ($1 per lead).

Costs Associated To Join ShareASale

If you are an affiliate, you can join ShareASale free of charge, all you need is a website to get started.

My Recommendation

In conclusion, ShareASale is 100 percent Legit. They are a great program to start with. It’s great because you can join for free. Also, they have so many merchants which you can partner with as an affiliate. They provide you with so many tools in order to succeed as an affiliate marketer. And please do not expect to earn money as an affiliate, right away, you really need to be patient with affiliate marketing.

I know a lot of people, who are members of ShareASale, and have been members for years, and have not yet made any sales. So they claim that ShareASale is a Scam. That’s not true, it really depends on the way you choose to promote your products.

There are so many ways you can do affiliate marketing, you just need to choose the one that works best for you. And please do not join so many affiliate networks at once, you will just lose track of everything. Keep it simple, and you will get there.

Also, I know people that join VigLink, ShareASale, Commission Junction, Amazon, eBay. And they just started affiliate marketing. Please do not do that. For one reason, most of the merchants that you see with ShareASale, may appear in other affiliate networks.

I know a lot of merchants on VigLink, who are also members of ShareASale. Just try to limit your join in all these program networks. You really just need one to start with. Try to focus more on the writing content, and please do not spam sites, forums, and other channels. That will only get you banned. And you don’t want that.

In conclusion, all these programs are free to join, so when you are ready, you can definitely join, and start your affiliate marketing journey. And they are all great for beginners.
