Features Of Mail Chimp

So depending on the type of plan you enroll in with Mail Chimp, you will have access to certain features. For example, if you are enrolled in the Forever Free Plan, you get access to most Mail Chimp features. However, you do not have access to email and chat support. Not to mention, you are limited in terms of the number of emails you can send per 24 hours. You are only allowed to send 2,000 emails per 24 hours.

Generally speaking though, as a Mail Chimp user , you have access to a variety of flexible designs. You can monitor sales and website activity with revenue reports. How Much Does Mail Chimp Cost Compared To Other Email Marketing Tools

Based on a 1000 subscribers list, Mail Chimp would be free of charge for up to 2,000 subscribers.  However, let’s check how much it would cost compared to other email marketing tools. For example:

  • $12/ month with Mad Mimi

  • $15/month with Getresponse

  • $32/month with iContact

  • $29/ month with Aweber

On the other hand, if you have 10,000 subscribers, would cost you $75 with Mail Chimp. Let’s compare how much it would cost with other email marketing tools:

  • $79/month with iContact

  • $65/ month with Getresponse

  • $42/month with Mad Mimi

  • $69 / month with Aweber

So if you have more than 10,000 subscribers, and want to know how much it would cost, you can click here to be redirected to the official pricing of Mail Chimp.

So really in terms of cost, Mail Chimp is considered reasonable, compared to other email marketing tools out there.

What I like About Mail Chimp

  • Mail Chimp has the Forever Free Plan, which I think is ideal for small businesses, so I think they are great for starters (beginners), but as you grow your list and have more and more subscribers (more than 2000 subscribers),  you will need to subscribe to a paid plan.

  • Mail Chimp has alerts for pay as you go customers. You can reload credits if you feel like you are reaching your threshold.

  • I like the Inbox Preview, which shows you how your emails will look like on a desktop, mobile, and etc.

  • I like the drag and drop tool when setting up emails.

  • When setting up your first campaign, Mail Chimp offers help and support on their platform.

What I don’t Like About Mail Chimp

  • They do take a long time to answer your emails, which is not a great thing at all.

  • In my opinion I think Mail Chimp is a bit expensive if you have a larger number of subscribers.

  • As a free user, you do not have access to email and chat support.

  • You can only downgrade from a paid plan to the free plan once over the life of your account.

  • If you are in the affiliate marketing business, Mail Chimp prohibits affiliate marketing, which is not good for me personally. So they may block URLs that may have been black listed.

  • Starting on May 12th, Mailchimp will shut down its Shopify integration. So if you rely on the integration to run your business, you can’t do that with Mail Chimp.

My Verdict

As a user of Mail Chimp, I would rate Mail Chimp based on my personal experience a 6 out of 10. It is very simple and easy to use, that’s for sure. It is great If you have a small email data base, and you are tight on budget, then I would recommend using Mail Chimp.

However, if you have a large email data base, you are better off using other online email marketing tools, and you can check the price comparison above for more information. But Mail Chimp is cheaper than most of the email marketing tools, if you have 2,000 subscribers or less.

I personally recommend using Mail Chimp, especially for beginners. However, if you are in the affiliate marketing business, I certainly would recommend you go somewhere else, as Mail Chimp does prohibit affiliate marketing. But if you are just starting out, Mail Chimp is good for you, but once you start to practice affiliate marketing, use a different email marketing tool.
